A Volunteer Wrote: Joonmarie has the sweetest little smiley face and the longest, waggiest tail. But located between that endless grin and constant wag is the body of a starving dog. How can one so emaciated be so effortlessly joyful and kind? Again, we are reminded what dogs can teach us about the capaciousness of happiness and forgiveness.
Joony adores other dogs, and adores other people. We kept wanting her to save her calories but she insisted on expending them romping and playing with such delight before finally curling up in our lap to have her ears scratched (she has the softest fur!) and give kisses. This is a giant-hearted soul wrapped in bones and fur, just waiting to exchange her old-soul gentleness and hard-won wisdom about what really matters in return for square meals and a lap to call her own.
