08/05/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jolly came into the care center as a stray so we do not have any information on her past behaviors in a home. During SAFER Jolly was very sociable towards the assessor and was attention seeking. She allowed the assessor to conduct all handling items without issue, and she was relaxed during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Jolly was a bit resistant when pushed out of the food bowl, but she allowed the assessor to remove the food without issue, and she was easy to handle when engaged with the toys and rawhides. Jolly appears to be so social and has not displayed any behavioral concerns while in the care center, so the department feels jolly can be suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with her tail down, body a bit stiff. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish rawhide to you. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Jolly greets the other dog politely and seems interested but does not engage in play.
