10/01/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/01/15 13:33 Basic information Jayde (Jay-dee) is an approximately 2 year old Yorkshire terrier. He is being surrendered due to conflict with neighbors. The owner was here along with her daughter. The daughter bought him from a pet store. His last vet visit was in May 2015 and he has no known health issues. Socialization According to the owner, Jayde is shy and fearful. He barks and lunges at strangers. He does not let strangers approach or touch him. He plays very well with the children in the home. He is playful and gentle with them. He barks at other cats and dogs. Last night, he ran into the corridor and bit two adult neighbors (1 man, 1 woman). He bit one of the children in his family as he tried to pick him up and remove him. Pictures of the child confirmed that his skin wasn’t broken, but we do not know the extent of their bites. Behavior Jayde goes potty indoors and outdoors. He is crate trained and wee wee pad trained. He barks in the home. During fireworks and storms, he becomes afraid and will bark. He visits the groomer regularly in which the groomer states that he does not really like baths or nail trimmings. He tolerates grooming. He does not like to have his food taken away. He barks and protects his food bowl. He is not bothered when you take his toys or treats away. For a new family to know The owner describes Jayde as friendly, protective, confident, pushy, asserttive, and affectionate. He is also playful with family members. He likes children. He sleeps in his crate and will bark in the morning to be let out. Behavior during intake Jayde barked during intake. When strange people or dogs approached, he began to bark and lunged and did not want to be approached. The owner held him while he was photographed and she also collared him. He allowed to be scanned(+). The owner transferred him into a kennel. Update: When i approached the kennel, Jayde had a loose body and wagging tail. When I spoke to him softly, he lowered his body and was excited. When I opened the kennel and tried to leash him, he turned his head and layed down. I opened the kennel and he jumped out and greeted me. I was able to leash him and carry him. He allowed me to pet and play with him. He gets nervous when he hears loud noises.
