10/10/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A handsome honey with a heart as golden as his namesake’s mythical fleece, Jason is on a very important quest of his own…for cuddles! He’s a chunky monkey whose ready smile and LOVE of human contact have made him an instant favorite among us volunteers and his cheerful, easy-going manners draw people to him like a magnet — wherever Jason goes, happiness follows! He’s always eager to get out for a walk and despite having an on-and-off limp in one back leg, trots enthusiastically down the street just like any other dog and takes care of all his business tout suite too. He’s a big fan of playing fetch and waits patiently for my throw before dashing off or leaping up to catch his prize, returning immediately to my side for praise and petting. Though he likes to keep the ball for a bit, once it drops from his mouth I’m free to pick it up with no complaints as he stands back expectantly to wait for another throw. Jason comes when called, takes treats ever so gently and greets other dogs with delighted tail wags and when it comes to kisses and snuggles, he is the undisputed King! Whether backing up for butt rubs, affectionately nuzzling into another volunteer’s arms or kissing me *smack* right on the lips, Jason simply lives to love. His behavior evaluation is filled with the best possible scores on everything from handling to playtime to sharing his toys and if it weren’t for his need to remain undisturbed when eating from a food bowl he’d be 100 percent perfect. As it is, he’s pretty darn close! Jason was found sitting on a stranger’s porch and he’d love to make himself at home for real this time. Already neutered and ready to join his new family immediately, our brave and beautiful boy would be so happy if today was the day his long quest for a forever home ended in your loving arms.
10/07/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jason came into our center after a member of the public found him sitting on her porch. He was easy to place in and out of his kennel, allowing all handling. Jason held gaze for three full seconds during Look item, lip lick. He stood still and accepted the touch, ears, tail, and body relaxed, mouth closed. Jason played along during Tag game, jumping and popping his body, settling easily at end. He did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts, lip lick. Jason growled and snapped on second cheek pass in the Food bowl. He playfully engaged with Toy, keeping a firm grip with loose body while playing, but would quickly lose interest. Jason had minimal interest in Rawhide. When off leash with other dogs, Jason greets politely, but becomes overaroused with solicitation from a pushy female. The Behavior Team feels Jason would do best in an Experienced home with No Children. He may benefit from learning the command ‘drop it’ as well as trade up games. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body, lip lick. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1.
