A volunteer writes: When the behavior team tells me that Jaiden is “a breath of fresh air”, I need to take notice! They love her and with good reason. She’s a rock star in play group, a “gentle and dainty” player, greets other dogs politely, and corrects appropriately if needed. She’s so good they told me she’s the next “social greeter” for group play. She’s a gorgeous little girl, her tan coat shows care, and her preferred ‘hair style’ is one ear up at attention, and the other down – so cute! Jaiden’s former owner left her with a friend and never came back for her, and the friend couldn’t keep her long term. Let his loss be your gain, as she’s a terrific little girl. She loved playing with toys and doesn’t guard them, loved chasing a ball and then carried it with her for part of our walk! Her tail wags as we walk, she greets other dogs we pass with an easy tail wave and she’s simply a joy to spend time with. She’s as good a cuddler as she is ball player, coming in my lap for some kisses and petting. She’s a lively little girl who loves everyone and everything, and the only thing missing in her life right now is that one special person or family to love. Meet our Jaiden today and be prepared to take our “breath of fresh air” home with you. Yes, she’s that sweet.
09/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jaiden pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Jaiden was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Jaiden did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He was not interested in toys or rawhide. Jaiden appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. Jaiden is an active dog he need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experienced home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor.
