He has a low activity level and liked to be near his owners. He is well behaved when left unattended. Jacob was very aloof towards the counselor at intake. He inquired when the counselor called his name, but quickly turned bakc around. He stayed right near his owner with his eyes on him. 07/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jacob came to us as an owner surrender on 7/3/15. Upon intake it was reported by the owner that Jacob tends to have fearful and tense body language with a tucked tail. During the intake process Jacob did growl at the admissions counselor when the counselor handed the owner some paper work. Jacob can be seen in his kennel snarling and growling when approached. He tries to bite several times when being taken out of his kennel. Due to the behavior demonstrated here only a partial assessment was completed. Jacob ate faster, was stiff and very difficult to push out of the food bowl, but did not growl, snap or bite. He displayed no interest in the toy or rawhide items on this portion of the assessment. He was calm and relaxed when interacting with another dog on leash. The behavior department believes that Jacob would do best if placed with a rescue that can provide appropriate behavior modification for Jacob. Food: 3. Dog follows the dish, his tail between his legs, ears are forward. His body is stiff. Dog does not lift his head from the bowl when hand is applied to his cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip long.
