Scent lived with one adult and children ages 3- 16 years old. She was reported to be relaxed, playful and respectful towards everyone in the household, and the owner stated she is well behaved with other dogs but will bark is the other dog becomes defensive. The owner also stated Scent was introduced to kittens and is tolerant but behavior is unknown towards cats. Her activity level was said to be high, and she was reported to be well behaved when left home alone. She was also reported to be housebroken, and she allowed her owner to touch her food and take toys away from her mouth. Upon intake Scent was reported to be nervous and timid and only allowed limited handling. During SAFER Scent also appeared to be timid, and was more interested in her surroundings. She was a bit tense for some handling, but she allowed the assessor to conduct each item without issue. During the tag interaction Scent was distracted by objects in the room, and during the resources portion of the assessment Scent was not interested in any of the items. While in the care center Scent has been showing some fearful behavior and avoids interaction. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Scent is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. The department recommends an adopter with an average amount of dog experience, it is also recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Scent be given the opportunity to interact at her own pace. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is down, body a bit tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip licks. Tag: 2.
