04/18/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Hunter came to us as a stray on 4/10/15. Upon intake it was reported that Hunter displayed very friendly behavior, and allowed all handling. He allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items, but became a bit stiff on the look test. Hunter initially let the assessor move all of the resource items with the assess-a-hand, but when the assessor picked up the items with his real hand Hunter began to growl, and lunge toward the assessor. Due to this demonstration the behavior department feels that Hunter would be best placed with a rescue group that can provide positive behavior modification. Look: 3. Dog holds gaze with slightly stiff body language. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. He indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor softly during play. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 4. Dog growls. Toy 1: 4. Dog growls. Rawhide: 4. Dog growls. When off leash with other dogs, Hunter is sexually motivated and growls when offered correction. Muzzling is attempted but unable to occur.
