05/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Hero came into the care center as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was noted that Hero was very vocal (barking), but she approached the counselor and allowed handling. During SAFER Hero was very sociable and attention seeking. She maintained a relaxed body posture during the handling, allowing the assessor to conduct all items without issue, and she was playful during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment, Hero was not interested in the food or rawhides, and only showed minimal interest in the toys. Hero appears to be very sociable and did not show any behavior concerns, so the department feels Hero can be suitable for an adopter with an average amount of experience. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: Inconclusive, dog is not eating. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog sniffs, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Hero greets politely and is tolerant when with a pushy female.
05/26/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
