08/19/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Heracles leans into me for a butt scratch, turning around to give me a great big smile. You have to love that!!! This handsome hunk was my first walk of my day setting me up for success! He’s likely housetrained, good on a leash, low key and his handsome face smiles from ear to ear. He’s been beautifully taken care of, his coat is clean and groomed and his weight perfect for his size. His name comes from Greek mythology and means “divine hero” the strongest of all gods and mortals. Indeed our boy is being strong in the face of having been a well taken care of companion to finding himself a stray in a strange new environment. His tail wags nonstop, he loves to be pet, got playful with a plush toy, and then relaxed by my feet as I took some notes. In the park a churlish small dog lunged at us and Heracles took it all in stride, as “divine heroes” tend to do. Posing for photos like a pro, Heracles turns his gorgeous grey eyes on mine being the perfect model. Good boy Herc! He’s gentle, sweet, affectionate, happy for some attention and loving. He is hand shy and crouches down momentarily if a hand comes from overhead, but approach the right way and I’m rewarded with a smile, a wag and a kiss. Who doesn’t love a “divine hero”? Let Herc show you just how divine he is. Ask to meet him today!
08/20/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Heracles pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, mouthy (soft). He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Heracles did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He took the toy and the rawhide with a soft body language. Heracles is an active dog he need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experienced home. Look: 3.
