05/06/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/06/15 20:25 He was nervous during the intake. Finder carried him into the room as he was too nervous to walk in himself. His tail was tucked and his body was somewhat stiff. He tried to hide under the chair. I offered him treats, and while he sniffed them, he seemed too nervous to eat them. I sat on the floor and he eventually approached and warmed up to me. He allowed petting and handling and showed no signs of aggression. He scanned negative for a microchip. He became nervous once more and tried to back away and hide when the ACO came to bring him to medical.
05/09/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A brindlicious big boy with a personality to match lights up when he sees me approach. He’s excited to be going out to go potty (which he does the moment we’re out the door), excited to meet new people, excited about his new surroundings, excited to sniff a new treat, he’s just a happy guy! Gorgeously groomed in his light tan brindle coat, he loves people and loves to be close. From time to time he huddles down as if not sure what’s coming next, but wags his tail, and is a total wiggle butt as we get to know one another. He’s zig zaggy on the leash and maybe has never been on one before, but he’s smart and he’ll learn with proper training. Happy to meet everyone on the street who wanted to meet him, he’s super friendly and happy to make friends. Off leash in a pen he follows me around, puts his head in my lap for some cuddling, sits (after a few prompts) for a treat, and wags his tail at whatever will come next. In group he’s interested in other dogs but doesn’t solicit play. Henson has a big personality and is looking for his human equal, someone to play with, someone to love and cuddle with. If you’re all about big boy fun and cuddles, Henson is the dog for you!
05/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Henson at the shelter walks with a low body language on leash. Once he was in the behavior room he was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Henson was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Henson was not interested in toys or rawhide. Henson did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. Dog-dog: With other dogs off-leash, Henson is interested but does not engage in play when solicited.
