05/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A0983607 Henny previously lived with only adults, and was reported to be relaxed, playful and respectful towards everyone in the household. Henny also lived with another dog, and the owner stated that Henny can be tolerant, playful and relaxed with the other dog, but will defend herself if the other dog attempts to bite. The owner stated that Henny isn’t bothered when the owner to touches her food bowl, or when toys or treats are taken away from her. Henny was reported to be house trained and she was said to be well behaved when home alone. At intake it was noted that Henny was docile, but nervous. She did allow handling but needed a slow approach. During SAFER Henny was fearful, and had a low body posture when interacting with the assessor. She was not attention seeking, but was receptive to attention when given. She allowed the assessor to conduct all handling items without issue, and she had a low body position during the tag interaction, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. During the resources portion of the assessment Henny was not interested in any of the items, and during the dog-dog interaction, Henny approached the helper dog with stiff body language and growled when close. Although Henny displayed some discomfort when approaching the helper dog, she was very easily managed and deescalated quickly, so the department feels Henny would be best suited for an experienced adopter with no other animals. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 2.
