09/30/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Hennessey previously lived with 1 adult and has been socialized with other dogs, cats and adults. The owner stated when Hennessey is around dogs, cats and adults she is relaxed respectful, tolerant, gentle and well behaved. The owner mentioned Hennessey is house trained and well behaved inside and outdoors. The owner describes Hennessey as being playful, pushy, confident, excitable, affectionate, mellow, independent and friendly. At intake it was reported Hennessey was calm and well behaved, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Hennessey came into the assessment room panting and anxious, she was not interested with the assessor, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Hennessey tried to bite the assessor on tag interaction with her body stiff. During this portion of the assessment she showed no interest in food and rawhide items, on toy item she freezes and growls when attempting to remove the toy away from her. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body tense, mouth closed. Tag: 5. Dog growls and tries to bite. Food: 1. Inconclusive dog is not eating. Toy: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Rawhide: 1. No interest.
