OWNER PROFILE FROM 10/31:

Diva is an 8month unaltered old Pit-Bull mix who was adopted from AC&C a week ago. Owner surrenders Diva due to personal problems. Diva lived with one female adult but been around children and she was playful, relaxed and respectful towards everyone. Diva behavior is unknown towards dogs but she lived a cat and was tolerant towards the cat. Diva was mostly indoors and activity level was to medium. Owner describes Diva as playful, affectionate, mellow and friendly. She was trained to use the bathroom outdoors and piddle trained but will urinate outdoors and defecate indoors. Owner never touched her food bowl or took toys or treats away from her mouth. She enjoyed taking baths and being brushed. She ate dry food called Beneful and was crated trained.

SAFER; AVERAGE HOME

Hazel previously lived with 1 adult, another dog and has been around children. The owner stated Hazel is relaxed, playful and respectful towards adults, children and the other dog she lived with. It was reported by the owner when Hazel sees cats she may either walk right past them or attempt to chase them. The owner mentioned Hazel is partially house trained; she is well behaved when left home alone in her crate and has a high activity level. The owner describes Hazel as playful, excitable, affectionate, shy, independent and friendly. It was also mentioned by the owner Hazel tends to destroy stuff indoors.

During SAFER Hazel came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Hazel was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Hazel was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Hazel appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter.

Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.

Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.

Rawhide: 1. No interest.

Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Hazel is social and engages in rough, running play with other playful dogs. She is tolerant of pushy behavior.
