06/18/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Hawaii is very fearful and tense; it takes a lot of coaxing for her to approach the assessor. Although she is very tense and cautious she allows the assessor to complete all handling items. She remained fearful during tag only follow the assessor shortly and then stopped moving, she was unresponsive when touched and approached the assessor slowly with coaxing once the game ceased. She had minimal interest in food, toys, and rawhide. Hawaii was very fearful and cautious throughout the assessment. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. The Behavior Department recommends that due to Hawaii’s extremely fearful and cautious demeanor that she go to an experienced home with no children that is able to provide positive experiences for her. In addition, we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Hawaii be given the opportunity to interact at their own pace. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears back. Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends, needs coaxing. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1&2: 2. Dog does not pull back paw for three seconds. Body stiff, gives whale eye. Food 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells intently, then turns away. Toy 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells intently, then turns away. Rawhide1. Minimal interest. Dog smells intently, then turns away.
