05/07/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Based on his reaction to a discarded ball on the sidewalk, I just knew Gunna was going to be quite the athlete. On our walk, the moment he saw the treasured toy, his face lit up, he did a prance in the ball’s direction, and his ears stood at attention. Once he relieved himself- and seemingly housetrained, he was quick to do so- we went to the yard to get in a game of fetch. When I threw the ball, Gunna pranced about retrieving it and then tossed it to himself again. He channels a soccer player by gently kicking it with his front paws, so that he can scamper after it and reclaim it again! With his cartoonishly large ears, long and lean body, and graceful long legs, Gunna reminds me of a deer or dingo dancing to the beat of his own drummer–with the ball as his partner! And when he was done with his version of the tango, he scooted under the bench, laying down in the shade, with his ball delicately placed between his paws, for a little rest. Not only is Gunna an avid ball player, but according to his former owner, he is good with other dogs, doesn’t mind when you take away his food bowl or toys, has lived with children as young as infants and is very tolerant of their rough play. Gunna’s happiness depends on a ball, a place to play and a family to love him. Can you offer him all three?

05/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gunna came to us as an owner surrender on 4/28/15. It was reported by the previous owner that Gunna has lived with children before and is playful and very tolerant of them. He was also housed with another dog and demonstrates the same character trait that he does with children. Gunna was a bit nervous and tense during the assessment but allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile items without displaying any signs of aggression. He did become stiff an uncomfortable during the squeeze and sensitivity test. Gunna took both the toy and rawhide items away with tense body language, but proved easy to handle during the food bowl test. The behavior department believes that Gunn would do best in an experienced home with no children. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needs coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff. Flank squeeze 1: 3. Dog closes mouth, begins to purse lips and becomes stiff Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out. Toy 1: 3. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is stiff. Rawhide: 3. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. His body is stiff.

05/02/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
