04/15/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/15/15 13:30 Gaila was in the home with the surrenderer for a week and during that time it was noticed that Galia was relaxed and playful while living with a shih Tzu and would play very gentle, allowing the shih Tzu to jump on her, chase her, and paw at her. He appears to be house trained and was kept mostly indoors, She has a high to very high level of energy. She did not bite anyone or any animal while with the surrenderer. She was not bothered by loud noises such as thunder or sirens and was fed dry food.
04/22/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I met two females yesterday who could be an inspiration for whoever wants to give up on people and life…Gaila is one of them…We do not know Gaila’s past but she does not seem to have known a pampered existence. She is quite hungry and has a lot of weight to catch up with. She is pretty , owns lively and very eloquent eyes and is dressed in a cute shiny cinnamon coat. I thought she would be all about survival and pay attention to me only because I provided her with food. How wrong I was…Not believing in her, I threw a ball. She ran after it, caught it and enjoyed chewing on it. Although not guarding it(I had my hand in her mouth), she was so happy to keep it. She doubled the pleasure by jumping on the bench, settling on my lap and savoring caresses and toy at the same time. I kissed her on the head, she dropped the ball and licked my face. What a great gal Gaila is ! She seems to like other dogs even if they are much bigger than her. She does not mind the little ones either. She gets animated, almost play bowing and wiggles her tail. I really like Gaila and I so would love for her to know a better life as a pet this time. She passed her behavioral evaluation with flying colors and just needs now someone to lay eyes on her, fall in love and take her home. Gaila is at the Manhattan Care Center Another volunteer writes: Sweet sweet Gaila! I took her out of her cage and saw that her back legs were a little stiff as she walked. When she saw another dog in the next pen, she play bowed and wagged her tail so happy. They were playing ball, and she seemed interested so I got her a ball to play with. I bounced it softly next to her and she picked it up and brought it to me so gently rubbing her head on my knees as I sat on the bench, as if to say “thank you”. My heart just melted and I spent the next five minutes just cuddling and petting her in that position and she was so happy for this little bit of affection. Come rescue this sweet heart of a dog.
