A volunteer writes: I couldn’t resist chanting an old childhood ditty, ‘Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair, Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn’t fuzzy, was he?’ – now try to get that out of your head! Our Fuzzy is a sweet little brindle and white girl, quiet, gentle, calm and easy. Likely housetrained she took care of business as soon as we were out the door and then had a nice walk to the park. She pulls a bit initially but quickly settles into a nice rhythm as we walk. Fuzzy looks like she’s been a mom a few times, and bears some old scratches perhaps little nips from her babies. She’s a sweetheart, happy to put her head in my lap for some cuddles, and then laying down to rest. She had just come out of group in which she greets the helper dog but did not really engage in play at this time. Nevertheless she’s hot and tired and a rest is a good thing! I left her in the pen for a few minutes to photograph another dog and she waited quietly for my return, wagging her tail in welcome as I came back into the pen. She’s compact and will fit into any living situation and her rock star behavior assessment indicates she can move into just about any home. Are you going to be the lucky person who makes her yours? Ask for Fuzzy today.
07/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Fuzzy came to our center as a stray so behaviors in the home are unknown. She pulled hard on leash for her relief walk, excited to enter the SAFER assessment room. Fuzzy was social and interacted with handler and assistant throughout assessment. She allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body soft. Fuzzy stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, mouth closed, body soft. Fuzzy was focused on other stimuli during Tag game, unresponsive to the assessor, needing to be coaxed at end of game. She did not pull her paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Fuzzy lifted her head out of the Food bowl when hand was applied to cheek. She had no interest in Toy and minimal interest in Rawhide. When off leash with other dogs, Fuzzy is more interested in dogs and people outside of the play area. The Behavior Team feels Fuzzy can do well in an Average home. She may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners. She may also benefit from daily stimulation in the forms of Kongs and Nylabones to positively direct her enthusiasm. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, mouth closed, body soft. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game with coaxing. She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1/ 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Food 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. Minimal interest. Dog-to-Dog: When off leash with other dogs Fuzzy greets the helper dog but is more interested in dogs and handlers outside of the pen.
