10/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1055943 Frida came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Frida was friendly and loose for all handling. During SAFER Frida came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and very social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Tag item was skipped due to medical injury on her front right paw, Flank squeeze was applied and Frida didn’t respond at all. During the resources portion of the assessment Frida was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Frida appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Flank squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with her tail down, body likely a bit tense. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the rawhide. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
