07/06/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/06/15 12:34 Frenchy A1042903 is a young red & white AMPBT Mix female who was found tied up on a street corner in the Bronx. Upon approaching her the finder stated she barked excitedly and was jumping up on them for attention/affection. Frenchy allowed them to untie her and as they led her to their car she had a loose wiggly body but pulled hard when walked. During intake Frenchy allowed all handling. She had a loose wiggly body and she jumped up to solicit attention/affection from the admissions counselors. Frenchy allowed us to scan (-), collar her and take her pictures along with positioning her for pictures. Frenchy’s known commands (so far) are “sit”. She demonstrated her “sit” for us during her photo shoot.
07/15/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: With a name like hers I want to buy her a beret, some bling, a cigarette holder and to hear her say ‘woof’ in French! Miss Frenchy is an awesome dog – a total wiggle butt as I approach her kennel – she’s ready to make friends! We head for the door and as soon as we’re outside she goes potty so is likely housetrained. Sitting for treats, taking them gently with the edge of her teeth, she doesn’t mind being tethered for some quick pictures. In the backyard we put on a scarf (sorry no beret), and she sits again, poses perfectly for pictures, and when we’re done she sits by my side leaning against my leg. She loves to cuddle, paws in my lap, giving me a big wet kiss. Beautifully groomed in her caramel color coat, her eyes match her coat and adorable little flap over ears frame her face. She’s the perfect weight for her size. Not really interested in a ball or a toy at this time, she explores the pen, comes when I call her, and settles next to me again for more petting. When other dogs approach Frenchy gets very excited and vocal, wanting to play but doesn’t know the subtleties of introductions. Frenchy needs to find a home with a person who will teach her better how do you do manners, and love her from here until forever. Ask to meet our Frenchy today. Another volunteer writes: So gorgeous and calm in her kennel, thrilled to go for a walk, I have never seen any dog pee as endlessly as she does once outside. She’s so housetrained! She grabs the leash a couple of times on our way out but releases easily right away and that’s just part of her charm. Once outside she happily bounces around in a pen, shows how well she executes a ‘sit’ in exchange for a treat, and gives me her paw to shake! Impressive! She’s an absolute doll who needs to learn some doggie ‘how do you do’ manners. A favorite of staff and volunteers who know her, she is truly magnifique!
07/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Frenchy plays tug-of-war with the leash on walks but was not difficult to distract her. She was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. She was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. Frenchy did a lot of jumping up, body checking while playing tag and played tug-of-war with the leash during tag interaction and was a bit difficult to distract her. She was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. Frenchy was not interested in toys but took the rawhide away but had soft body language. Frenchy is an active dog she need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. She shows a bit of concern during the play group interaction. This dog needs some positive reinforcement training to learn basic manners, not to jump up. Frenchy is a high energy dog he needs a few toys that require him to think toys like Kong’s and ice Cubes load with treats to keeping her occupied for a while to positively direct her high energy. The behavior department feels that she can go to an experienced home. We also recommend a home without children. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. Her body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 3. Dog responds with her tail high, ears forward, mouth likely closed for at least half of the assessment item, body stiff and body checks the Assessor. Dog is often focused on other stimuli in the room. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 2. Dog follows the dish with her tail down, body likely a bit stiff. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place his body between you and the rawhide. When off leash with other dogs, Frenchy is very forward and vocal at the gate so she is muzzled. She is very forward on intro but calms down over time and briefly interacts with the helper dog a few times before wandering the pen.
