04/06/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Franko cries in his kennel when he sees a person…This is not where he belongs… He is housetrained and does not want to soil his den. He likes people’s company, go for a walk, do what all regular pets do when they belong to an owner who cares. Sadly, Franko was abandoned to his lonesome and brought to the Manhattan Care Center. He is a good looking dog, a bit on the thin side but clad in a nice silvery coat. His eyes are all on me, his tail with missing hair beats the walls, he whimpers some more…Franko is so ready…He strolls quite well on the leash and can’t wait to do his business. He does not mark his territory. Leash free in a pen, he explores and goes on his hinds when he spots an activity that seems out of reach…He comes when I call him, sits on command, accepts caresses and takes treats quite well from my hand. I think he is still too stressed to play ball and hopefully, we will be more successful another day. Franko needs a bit more time, more walks and people company. Meeting other dogs in playgroups might do him well. Meanwhile, keep Franko in your thoughts, come and meet him…see if the chemistry is right. We never know when love will hit us….Franko is at the Manhattan Care Center, dreaming of a home sweet home.
