06/03/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Fisher Price is extremely fearful and upon removal of his kennel had urinated and defecated out of fear on multiple occasions. He allowed collaring but the handler avoided contact with the dog and went about it very slow and meticulous manner. During the assessment, the assessor was able to coax him, very slowly, into the first item in which the dog was very stiff and remained motionless. He became progressively more uncomfortable as the assessor moved onto the next item, Sensitivity, where the dog began to low growl and the handling portion of the assessment ceased. During resources, he showed minimal interest in food, toy and rawhide but never fully engaged with any one resource, continually giving whale eye when looking up from the resource. The Behavior Department believes Fisher Price would do best if placed with a New Hope Partner due to his consistent showing of extremely fearful behavior and his avoidance of interaction in the care center. We believe he would do best with a partner that has the resources to devote to allowing him the time to acclimate to new people and environments at his own pace. Look: 4. Dog holds eye contact while remaining motionless with ears forward. His body is stiff and becomes stiffer as assessment progresses. Sensitivity: 5. Dog low growls. Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, dog may smell and/or lick, then turns away. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog may smell and/or lick, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog may smell and/or lick, then turns away. Dog-Dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail tucked, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip long or neutral.
