07/06/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/06/15 18:23 Behavior During Intake: This dog was soft body from the start of intake. There was a small dog on the other side of the office that this dog really wanted to play with. She layed down on the floor and allowed another ACO to rub her belly. She sat when I asked her to. I took her photo and put a collar on her without issue.
07/08/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: My first pup of the day, and what a way to start! Gorgeous, quiet, great leash manners making for a slow and comfortable walk… Fannie is a ‘stop and smell the roses’ kind of a gal, taking her time as she gets to know the area via her nose. Likely housetrained, going potty was first on her agenda, and after that it was easy tail wags, lots of sniffing, and total responsiveness on leash. Ignoring other dogs as we walked through the park, in group she’s a bit nervous at her first time, briefly interacting with other dogs. Off leash with me alone she was happy hanging out next to me after exploring the pen. Fannie wasn’t interested in treats or toys, simply happy leaning into me for petting, putting her head in my lap, gently waving her tail. Lovingly taken care of in her shiny coat and good weight for her size, Fannie is quiet, calm, and sweet. She’s already spayed and ready to head home with you today. She’s ready to begin the next and final chapter of her life… with you.
07/09/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Fannie Mae walks very nicely on the leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. She was calm and relaxed during handling. She engages in play, loose body, wags tail, mouth is open and jumps up on the assessor once play begins but settles once the game ceases. Fannie Mae did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. She had minimal interest in the toy and was easy to handle when chewing on the rawhide. Fannie Mae was brought to the care center as a stray; upon intake her body remained soft and she allowed for all handling. Throughout the assessment, Fannie Mae remained friendly toward the assessor and showed no behavioral concerns. The Behavior Department feels Fannie Mae can go to an average home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is neutral, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture leaning into the Assessor. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed or back. Food 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek. Toy 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then walks away. Rawhide 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish rawhide to you. Dog-Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Fannie Mae engages in play briefly and offers appropriate corrections.
