07/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Empire came into the care center as a stray so we do not have information on his past behaviors in a home. During SAFER Empire was sociable and maintained a relaxed body posture when interacting with the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue, and was relaxed during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Empire was not interested in the food item, and only showed minimal interest in the toys and rawhides. Empire appears to be sociable and has not shown any behavioral concerns while in the care center, so the department feels Empire can be suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: No interest Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog sniffs, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog sniffs, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs Empire greets politely and continues to be a bit sexually motivated, otherwise is interested in sniffing/exploring. Tolerant.
