06/17/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/17/15 17:55 Elan was found in the street. His finders walked him here and report that he’s friendly. He has a strong smelling oily substance all over him. Elan had a loose wiggly body, and wagging tail and jumped up during handling-scan (-), collar, pictures, petting, switching leashes, putting in kennel. He climbed into his kennel on the transport van with little encouragement. He walked nicely on his leash and sat when asked.
06/23/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I call Elan my Everyready Bunny because he’s always ready to go go go! The best of all worlds, he’s a wonderfully goofy puppy who galumps his way all over a backyard pen yet walks nicely on leash and already seems to know commands for come, sit AND shake (a paw) and his love for everyone from little dogs to big humans seems to be endless. He’s not a pusher or a shover, just a bright young fellow with lots of energy to burn so an active home where there’s plenty of opportunities for fun and play would suit him perfectly. Speaking of perfect, did you know you were looking at a real live honor student? That’s right, Elan received the BEST scores possible on his behavior evaluation and is officially an expert at everything from sharing his toys and food to playing well with others — an ideal family pet in the making! All this and he’s so dashingly handsome in his tri-color coat that his kennel is one of the most frequent stops for Care Center visitors and volunteers alike. Elan is the kind of dog who’ll always greet you with a smile and his big energy is matched only by an even bigger heart. Come and get your share of non-stop loving today!
06/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Elan was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, licked hands. He was soft, loose, and wiggly throughout the assessment. He engages in play, loose body, wags tail, mouth is open. Elan did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He was easy to handle when chewing on toys and had minimal interest in rawhides. Elan was brought to the care center as a stray; his finder reported that he was very friendly. Throughout the assessment Elan remained friendly toward the assessor and showed no concerns. Elan shows some potential to have a fair amount of energy; the Behavior Department believes he can go to an average home that is prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body, tail wagging. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is wagging with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed or back. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog may smell and mouths, then turns away. Dog-Dog: When off leash with other dogs Elan is social and playful. He will solicit play by jumping on the helper dog but may be unsure as he will offer correction when the helper dog reciprocates with rough play.
06/18/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
