03/18/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Seriously, how many dogs do you know that can rock a bowtie like Eddie? And, not only is he dashing and debonair, his fabulous personality adds to his good looks. Easily leashed, likely housetrained, we head to the park where he shows off lovely leash manners, pulling slightly from time to time but nothing major. Eddie is tall, lanky, slender and gorgeous, and although as of this writing he has an ear infection which clearly hurts him, he is nothing but gentle and fabulous. He’s a champion fetch player, quickly leaping after the ball, bringing it back for another throw and letting me take it right out of his mouth. He sits and waits for me to throw the ball, never taking his eyes off of it, but waiting for the throw. Rockstar! When he’s had enough of fetch he jumps up on the bench to give the ball a good chomp, never tearing at it, just mouthing it. He’s so regal looking, so elegant my heart skips a beat as I watch him. He’s the perfect photographer’s model, making soft eye contact, holding his pose, and being incredibly patient with me as I fumble with my camera. Eddie is a delight, a quiet, well behaved, friendly and nice dog who needs a home. Let’s disprove the old adage that nice guys finish last, and let’s have this nice guy finish first. Ask to meet him today.
03/18/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Eddie pulls a bit on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Eddie was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Eddie did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He took the toy with a soft body language but was not interest in rawhide. Eddie approaches the helper dog with his tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed. Eddie is an active dog he need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experience home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip long or neutral. Helper: A1030298
