05/13/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/13/15 12:56 Dylan was very friendly during the intake. He had a soft wiggly body, a wagging tail, and soft eyes. He was eager to be petted and whined whenever I stopped petting him. He allowed handling and he showed no signs of aggression.
05/16/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Named after my favorite lyricist of all times, Dylan won several of my ‘awards’ yesterday (no, he didn’t write a song). He does snort when you hug him, so if that counts as a lyric it works for me! In no particular order my favorite things about Dylan are: 1) his whirlybird tail when he’s happy 2) his wiggle butt when he’s happy (he seriously has a PhD in wiggle butt) 3) he’s happy amusing himself with a toy, laying down for a good chew 4) is friendly, affectionate 4) poses for pictures making great eye contact 5) seems to understand what I’m saying when I talk to him…he looks so worldly in his concentration 6) he likes other dogs, greeting a Chihuahua gently through the fence and interacting well with active dogs in group 6) seems to be housetrained 7) sits on command and takes treats gently. And I know I mentioned his wiggle butt but it’s worth mentioning again….touch him and he goes into spasms of delight – the tail wags, the butt wiggles and his face is an ear to ear smile. I left the pen for a few minutes to photograph another dog and when I returned Dylan was laying down chewing on a toy, totally content waiting for me. I am in love with this dog who needs a new best friend. There is no one who will show his joy each and every day more than Dylan. Ask to meet him today.
05/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Dylan pulls a bit on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. Dylan was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He was not interested in toys or rawhide. Dylan is an active dog he need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experienced home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away. Toy: 1. No interest.
