11/14/15 08:51 Basic Information: Dutchess is a 1yr old female Pit Bull that has no past or current medical issues that the care taker was aware of. Social Life & Personality: Dutchess has been around children and she interacted with them in a playful gentle manner according to the owner. She has lived with other dogs (M/F) and she got along with them just fine. Dutchess has also been in the presence of cats and she got along with them fine as well. Dutchess is an indoor only dog that is house broken according to the care taker. Dutchess is described to be friendly, shy, affectionate, and mellow with a medium activity level. Behavior Issues: Dutchess has never bitten a person or another animal that the care taker is aware of. She doesn’t have any guarding issues when it comes to food, treats, and toys. These items can be given and taken away with no issues. Dutchess takes well to grooming agents like recieving a bath and having his coat brushed. The care taker has never tried to trim her nails and isn’t sure how she would respond to having this done. Dutchess is shy at first when it comes to strangers and just needs a little time to feel comfortable around them. She has never growled or tried to bite a stranger, she will just keep her distance until she feels the time is right. For a New Family to Know: Dutchess knows two basic commands and that is to sit & lay down. She went for slow walks on a leash and this was done once a day. Dutchess enjoys all sorts of dog toys and will play with just about anything. When in the home Dutchess is the type to follow you around seeking attention or be in the same room. When left alone in the home Dutchess is well behaved. Dutchess doesn’t take well to loud noises like thunder and fireworks. She appears to be nervous and will try to hide. Dutchess was brought up eating dry food and the brand the care taker gave was Blue Buffalo & sometimes Kibble & Bits.
11/14/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Elegant Dutchess came to us with boisterous twin brothers Beer and Champ, brought by their finder who housed them for over one month but had to give them away for landlord issues…The trio coexisted peacefully and were treated outstandingly well by their temporary master. Dutchess seems very much part Cattle Dog. Her ears indeed looks like flying wings and her muzzle his pointy. Her coat is immaculate, she looks healthy and so well nourished. Dutchess is cautious , walking slowly, almost inspecting the premises. Her tail is between her legs and slowly comes up after a while spent together. She is reserved but seems interested when a staff or another dog shows up at our door. Her nose always seems to be in action. She has to make sure. She is not trusting and silly like her housemates. Duchess is smart, though and understands quickly that I am a friend. Although she does not want my treats, she comes when i call her and hops on the bench. Yep, she is definitively a “bench girl”. She is fine with my caresses and ends up sitting very close to me, bonding while observing from a higher position, her new environment. I like Dutchess. She is pretty, young, kind of introverted for now but clearly the type who will be a very loyal dog to the one who will adopt her and show her love and care. She is shy in playgroups with other dogs and I know it will take time for her to mingle happily. Gorgeous Dutchess is at the Manhattan Care Center, dreaming to be your forever best friend.
