Duque previously lived with 1 adult and has been exposed to children ages 2-5 years old. The owner stated Duque is respectful and playful towards them. The owner mentioned Duque is well behaved when home alone. The owner describes Duque as playful, affectionate and friendly.
At intake it was reported Duque was relaxed and playful, he allowed all handling with a slow approach. During SAFER Duque came into the assessment room calm and quiet, he was not interested with the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Duque was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Duque was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Duque has been showing fearful behavior. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Duque is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. In addition, we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Duque be given the opportunity to interact at his own pace, so the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter.
