04/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A0935852 Dookie previously lived with adults and teenagers. He was said to get along with strangers, and doesn’t always do well with children. Dookie also has a past bite history, but did not break skin. The owner mentioned that Dookie is successfully housebroken, and does not get along with other dogs. During SAFER Dookie was sociable towards the assessor, but was not very attention seeking. He was relaxed for some handling, but became stiff and uncomfortable during the paw handling. During the tag interaction, Dookie was playful, but became a bit tense. He was easy to handle when engaged with the food and toy items, and did not show any concerns when the items were removed, but he did show some concerns when the assessor attempted to remove the rawhide; stiffening and growling. During the dog-dog interaction, Dookie rushed in quickly towards the helper dog with stiff body language. Due to the behaviors displayed on SAFER as well as the information provided by the previous owner, the department feels Dookie would be best suited for an experienced adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog assumes play position and joins the game, but becomes a bit tense and jumps on the assessor at the end of game. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Body a bit stiff Squeeze 2: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 4. Dog growls. Dog-dog: 3. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in with his tail high, stiff body, head tall, and ears erect.
