A volunteer writes: Looks can be so misleading which is why the expression, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” has lasted for years. One look at Doger, cropped ears, well fed low rider body and one would never guess at the laid back, easy going dog that he is. He’s a pokey walker, slow and easy is his motto, good on the leash as he’s simply happy to stroll, surveying his surroundings. I met him and took him out of group play in which he greeted others politely but was happiest roaming the pen on his own time. Well groomed in his handsome tan coat, he flirted with a woman who was flirting with him as we walked nearby. So cute to watch the little flirtation and I think Doger would have happily followed her home! He ignores other dogs we pass, doesn’t mind being tethered for some quick photos, and isn’t interested in my treats. He appears to be the epitome of a couch potato, acing his behavior assessment like a rockstar indicating he’ll be a good fit in most homes. This handsome fellow is waiting to meet you, so please don’t make him wait long.
08/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Doger came to our center as a stray by a member of the public on 8/4/2015. Finder reports he was easy to leash and walk into the center. Doger allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body soft, tail wagging. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, body neutral, tail down, mouth closed, lip lick. He was a bit distracted and unresponsive during Tag game, but approached assessor at end when coaxed. Doger did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. He lifted his head when assess-a-hand touched his cheek in the Food bowl. Doger had no interest in Toy at all. He took Rawhide away, body neutral. When off leash with other dogs, Doger greets politely and will sniff the helper dog but is more interested in exploring his surroundings. The Behavior Team feels Doger would do well in an Average home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back, body soft.
