A volunteer writes: Surrendered to our care as his owner is ill and can no longer care for him, Digit is feeling the loss. He’s a gorgeous boy in a red/orange coat and the perfect weight for his size. He’s housetrained per his former owner, showed off good leash manners and is shy to the touch. His former owner tells us that he is always shy with new people at first but warms up quickly. We’re all new people here at the shelter, so this is a lot for Digit to deal with. His tail is tucked, he flinches when I reach to pet him, but is never aggressive or withdrawn, he simply moves away slightly. He comes when I call him and has a beautiful step. In tune to street noises, and perhaps listening for his person his head lifts from time to time as he hears people on the street. We’re also told that he plays well with large dogs, and is very gentle in play with small ones, prefers to potty on grass and likes long slow walks. Due to his need to warm up to people and his shyness it’s recommended that his new family be experienced and not have small children whose sudden movements or noise might frighten him. There is so much potential in this sweet boy I wish I had more time to spend with him to earn his love, respect and trust. What a win win for both Digit and his new person who has the time and commitment for him. Is it you?
