08/27/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I knew I would love this gal when I saw her in her kennel. A shepherdy looking damsel with velvety eyes, a fudgy muzzle and the longest tail that I could barely fit when I cropped my photos…Diana is a smallish female, very girly, much too thin and who might have been a mama once upon a time. She was quite serious when I first met her. Tasty treats for which she jumped at first broke the ice between us and soon enough, she acted like my long time faithful and loyal companion, shadowing my every move and settling comfortably and peacefully on my lap for non stop kisses and hugs. Any doubt about me had washed away from her mind…She was mine, mine, mine..I so wish, yes, I so wish….Diana is really my kind of dog, in looks and behavior.. One can only dream….Well, if I knew at least that a nice adopter or family would fall in love with Diana and take her home as their forever best friend…it would be a wonderful blessing for Diana..and selfishly for me too. We love our pooches here at the care center and dream the best for them…Come and meet Diana soon, make her dreams come true, a home to call her own and a master to love.
08/26/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Diana came to our center after police found her tied to a tree. She was loose and wiggly upon intake, soft eyes, friendly jumping on counselor while attempting to leash. She pulled on leash during her walk. Diana was social and friendly upon entering the SAFER assessment room, friendly jumping on assessor, tail wag. She allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, body soft, tail wagging. Diana leaned in to assessor during Sensitivity item, low tail wag. She followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body soft, settling easily at end of game. Diana did not pull her paw back on both Squeeze attempts, tail wagging. Diana calmly allowed the Food dish to be moved away from her, but froze and got stiff at first assess-a-hand cheek pass. Second pass Diana lifted her head with a bit of pressure from assess-a-hand, body neutral. She was playful with Toy but relinquished it easily. Diana settled with Rawhide, keeping a firm grip, neutral body. Due to her potential for possessiveness with food, the Behavior Team feels Diana would do best with an Experienced adopter with no young children. Look: 1.
