04/15/15 16:40 Basic Information: Diamond is a 2 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. She has not seen been to a vet recently but has no known injuries or health problems. Social Life and Personality: Diamond has been around children from infants and older. She is relaxed and gentle during play with them. She lives with another dog and is friendly with that dog but lunges and barks at other dogs that she doesn’t live with. She has not been around cats to know her behavior. She is house trained and does not have accidents inside the home. Behavior: Diamond is friendly when people removed bones or toys from her, when she receives baths, being held, and when strangers come to her home and approach her family. She is not bothered when people touch her food when eating, trim her nails, brush her, or wake her up when sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Diamond knows how to sit, lie down, and jump. She is used to leashed walks and playing in a fenced in yard 2-3 times a day. She likes to play with balls and old tires. Diamonds chews on household items when she is left home alone. When she is off leash, she will stay close to her owner. She was fed dry dog food. For treats her owner gave her boiled chicken and rawhides. Intake Behavior: Diamond Sky was sociable and approached people with a loose body and wagging tail. She allowed handling and did not show aggressive behaviors.

04/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE

Diamond has been reported to be relaxed and gentle during play with children, and was said to be friendly towards another dog that she lived with, but will lunge and bark at other dogs that she doesn’t live with. She was also reported to be house trained and did not have accidents inside the home, but when left home alone it was noted that she chews on household items. At intake Diamond Sky was reported to be sociable and approached people with a loose body and wagging tail, and she allowed all handling. During SAFER Diamond Sky was very sociable and attempted to lick the assessor face when greeting. She allowed all handling items without issue, and was playful during the tag interaction. Diamond sky was also easy to handle when engaged with the resource items, and did not show any concerning behaviors. Diamond Sky interacts well with people, but has shown some discomfort when off leash with other dogs, so the department feels Diamond Sky would be best suited for an experienced adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Licks hand Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is between you and the toy, and she is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the rawhide. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Diamond Sky wags her tail during greeting but body is stiff. She follows the other dog throughout the yard with only brief breaks and reacts to the other dog with no provocation.
