08/20/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
The previous owner reports Diamond Ring has been around children from infants and up as well as other dogs and was relaxed, very tolerant, and exuberant during play. The owner also stated she has lived with a cat and was respectful. It was reported that Diamond Ring is house broken and does not have accidents in the home. She was said to have a high activity level, and her owner described her as playful, confident, excitable, affectionate, mellow, independent, and friendly. It was mentioned that Diamond Ring isn’t bothered when people take away her toys or food bowl when eating, and she also isn’t bothered when given a bath, when brushed, and when strangers approach her home and family. At intake it was noted that Diamond Ring maintained a very loose body and solicited attention by jumping on the counselor. During SAFER Diamond repeated the same behaviors at intake, and remained loose and wiggly for all handling items as well as the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Diamond Ring only showed minimal interest for the toys, but became very stiff and growled when pushed out of the food bowl, and also when the assessor attempted to remove the rawhides. Although this behavior has not been reported in the previous home, the department feels Diamond may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address guarding behavior seen on SAFER, and would do best with an experienced adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy: 1.
