Sindy was adopted back in March, picked up by the police as a stray in August, and has been looking for her forever home in BACC ever since. Sindy is a staff favorite and play group superstar! She is playful and appropriate with every dog she meets, and has even been used to help some of our more fearful dogs feel comfortable when being introduced to a play group. Sindy is also incredibly social with people! She loves belly rubs, and will take attention from anyone willing to give her some! When finished with play group one day last week, Sindy sat contentedly in an ACO’s lap for about an hour just watching the other dogs. She will make a great addition to just about any home. Please help Sindy finally find a place to call home, and pull her from BACC!
A volunteer writes:
Sindy is a beautiful girl. She is only 11 months old. She loves a nice stroll with her beloved human. If only that person will come to meet her. You may be that very person. Come find out. Come meet Cindy.
Another volunteer writes:
I first saw Sindy in her play group having the best time with two other dogs, so I had to meet this little rock star. She’s adorably petite, in a beautiful coco color coat, and the cutest little furrowed brow. I love dogs with furrowed brows – they look like such deep thinkers! Indeed, Sindy is a youngster, perhaps thinking about what ‘home’ means… She gives lovely stand up hugs and kisses, take treats softly, and while she’s a bit zig zaggy on the leash it’s more about exploring the smells in her new environment. Sindy has had the honor of representing ACC at a few events for which only the calmest best behaved dogs are chosen. She’s a celebrity! Sindy is currently accepting applications for a new home, and will sign your autograph book if you ask nicely! Calm, gentle and low key, Miss Sindy is hoping that the next event she is selected for is to be your best friend. Ask to meet her today.

Behavior: Average Home
Sindy is a behavior helper dog. She is social, soft-bodied, and respectful of all dogs she meets outside off-leash. She is playful and excited to greet all dogs she is introduced to – male and female, intact and altered. She has been used to help fearful, less social dogs feel comfortable. She moves seamlessly between interacting socially with dogs and with people, rolling onto her back while engaging in play with dogs and rolling over for stomach rubs when sitting with people.
SAFER: 8/20
Sindy pulls on the leash and was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, licked hands and face. She was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. She was distracted and focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag interaction. She did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Sindy showed minimal interest in toys and rawhides, but rushed in confidently towards the helper dog; body is tense, ears erect, tail high and growling.
Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft , soft and loose body, open mouth.
Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor.
Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away.
Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog may smell or lick, then turns away.
Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog may smell or lick, then turns away.
Dog-dog Follow Up: 8/31
In the yard with helper dog A1011765, both dogs were on-leash and were walked around the large pen. Sindy was interested in the helper dog but made no inappropriate move toward her. Walking parallel, leading, and following, Sindy remained soft-bodied, tail neutral and wagging, ears back, no sign of tension or arousal. She looked at the helper but did not focus and was responsive to the handler throughout. During a brief nose-to-nose greeting, Sindy displayed the same body language, curious but not agitated.
