05/02/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/02/15 10:22 Diamond is an approximately 6 month APBT. The owner got her from a breeder and had her for 5 years. She is being surrendered because he does not have the funds to take care of her. The owner said that she has a small mass on her nose. She does not have any no known health issues. Around strangers, Diamond is relaxed, somewhat shy at first, but respectful and playful once she warms up. She plays gentle and somewhat rough with adults. Diamond is relaxed around children and plays a little rough with them. She has been around other dogs, males and females. She plays rough with other dogs. Diamond becomes anxious when left alone and during storms and loud noises she tries to escape or hide. She also tries to hide and run when given a bath. The owner describes her as playful, affectionate, independent, and very friendly. She has a high activity level. The owners favorite thing about her is that she is protective. She loves to run and jog. At home, she follows the family a round and loves to play with her kong. She loves to play fetch and catch. She has been mostly kept indoors and her favorite place to sleep is on the couch. she is huse trained and knows many commands such as sit, down, paw, stay, and lay down. She pulls very hard on the leash and wanders when off leash but comes back when called. During intake, diamond was very sweet but shy. She allowed to be pet and sat down and gave me her paw. She took treats and had a wagging tail and loose body. She was hesitant at first but allowed to be collared, scanned (negative) and leashed.
05/06/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Looking up at me so sweetly as I passed by her kennel, I did a double take and fell in love right then and there. A gorgeous face, a Rubenesque figure, her deep amber eyes looked into mine and I was a goner. Love her! Housetrained as advised by her former owner, she took care of her business the moment we were out the door and off we go. She pulls slightly on the leash, but checks up often as we walk and is so quietly happy to make a new friend. Acknowledging other dogs we pass with an easy glance, she doesn’t pull towards them but is simply content to walk nicely along my side. We’re told that she’s shy when she first meets new people but warms up quickly, plays both gently or roughly with people and other dogs, loves to sleep on the couch, tries to hide when it’s bath time, knows ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘paw’ and ‘stay’, and her favorite games are fetch and catch. Off leash in a pen she explores a bit, and then comes over to put her paws in my lap and share a kiss, or two, or three with me…..She’s low key, gentle and sweet, and while a bit concerned and confused as to why she’s with us and not her people, is coping wonderfully. I left her in a pen to go photograph another dog, and when I returned she had been waiting patiently, watching the direction I left in, and wagging her tail at my return. Joining me on the bench for another cuddle fest, I promised her we’d find her a new home where the concept of ‘happily ever after’ is a real commitment. Calm, gentle and easy to be with; I felt like I had known her forever. Her intake notes mention how sweet and soft she is, and she even shook paw with the intake counselor! How sweet is that! She’s an awesome little girl who is hoping her new family is just around the corner. Are you?
