04/26/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
Diamond who was given to the family from a family member at the age of 2months. Diamond is being surrendered due to her owner being ill and is no longer able to care for her. Diamond has no current/known medical issues and hasn’t been to a veterinarian for a few years. Diamond needs time to warm up to strangers. When comfortable she loves to jump up and “love on people”. She’s spent time with a 5yr old child who she’s affectionate with, she also jumps on him to lick his face and plays exuberantly. Diamond has a 5yr old son named Roscoe who she’s still very motherly with and loving/affectionate towards. She mostly just “hangs out and lays around” with him. Diamond hasn’t spent time with other unknown Dogs or Cats. Diamond has never bitten/scratched a person. She did have an incident where she bit a Dog 3yrs ago when the Dog wouldn’t “leave her alone” (jumping on, trying to mount, etc) so Diamond “defended herself” and the Dog stopped (the bite did not break skin or bleed). Since Diamond’s owner isn’t able to take her out as much at the moment she occasionally will “go” indoors. When left alone Diamond is a bit anxious and barks during thunderstorms/fireworks. Diamond isn’t bothered by the following: having her food/food bowl touched/moved, bones/treats taken away, toys or other object she may have, being pushed off of furniture, being disturbed while sleeping/resting, being brushed or being held/restrained. Diamond will bark if someone knocks on the apt door or if they approach a family member. It is unknown how she reacts to the following: during bathtime, having her nails trimmed. Diamond is described as playful (sometimes pushy), confident, excitable, affectionate, anxious(when left home alone), independent and friendly. Her activity level is described as high. Favorite thing about Diamond from her family is how affectionate she is with her son Roscoe. Diamonds favorite activity is playing with her rubber toys. When the owner is home Diamond follows her around. Her favorite toys are balls, stuffed and squeaky toys. She loves to play fetch and she alerts/barks when she sees/hears someone approaching. Diamonds owner would like to see her in a home with a yard and a family/couple who have the love, time & space for her. She’s kept mostly indoors and sleeps on her sofa. Diamond eats Pedigree wet and dry food (1cp 1x a day). She mostly housetrained with the occasional accident a few times a week. She knows sit & stay & pulls hard on a leash.
05/03/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Will the real Diamond please sit up? Surrendered by the only family she’s ever known along with her son, Rocko, Diamond is shaken to the core. We’re told that she needs time to warm up to strangers, and we’re all strangers here in this new place with new smells and noise. Gone is everything that is familiar to her. Once Diamond knows someone we’re told that she likes to jump up and “love on people”, but she’s a long way from showing us that side of her. Reluctant to be leashed, reluctant to be touched, she’ll need time in a new home to decompress and feel the love. Her former family told us their favorite thing about her is how connected to her son Rocko (A1034368) she is, as they sleep together on one couch or blanket. She’s affectionate to the 5 year child she’s spent time with, and loves to play fetch. Like Rocko, she’s been lovingly taken care of, her coat soft and gleaming and her weight perfect for her size. Her leash manners are perfect, she doesn’t solicit or welcome affection at this point and seems distracted as she looks for something, anything that is familiar to her. A proven family dog with glowing comments from her former people, Diamond is hoping for a new family to love. Ask to meet her today; the ‘real’ Diamond will definitely reappear once back in a home surrounded with love. Another volunteer writes: They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend but our Diamond doesn’t play favorites — she wants to be everyone’s best friend! She may have taken a few days to adjust but now this beautiful mama is keen to get up close and personal with visitors and every man, woman, child and dog is welcomed with easy good manners and gentle sniffing. She enjoys cuddling on the bench and once I initiate a smooch session she even sneaks in a few sweet kisses of her own. It’s clear that her former owner’s comments were no exaggeration and this beautiful gal truly is a wonderful family-friendly pet. Diamond shines brighter with each passing day and she’d love to snuggle her way into your heart as soon as possible!
04/28/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE

Diamond walks calmly on leash. She may be house trained – toileted immediately when taken outside. She was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Diamond was shy during handling, but had soft body language. She became fearful while playing tag. Diamond was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. She was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Diamond was surrender to us. According to her previous owner she needs time to warm up to strangers. Once she is comfortable she loves to jump up and “love on people”. She’s spent time with a 5yr old child who she’s affectionate with; she also jumps on him to lick his face and plays exuberantly. Diamond has a 5yr old son named Roscoe who she’s still very motherly with and loving/affectionate towards. She mostly just “hangs out and lay around” with him. Diamond hasn’t spent time with other unknown Dogs or Cats. According to the family Diamond isn’t bothered when they removed the food bowl, treats or bones”. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. This dog is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler.
