08/19/15 14:05 Diablo is a black and white 7yrs. old male pitbull who was surrendered by his owner at ACC. Diablo is neutered and has his rabbies vaccination until January 2016. Diablo appears healthy and will undergo a full physical health exam. He is described as being frisky and excitable. Diablo has not been socialized with children cats or dogs at this time. Diablo has been socialized with adults and it is reported that he is relaxed and tolerant of adults. He is an indoor dog who will occassionally stay in the backyard and is house trained. He is described as being playful excitable affectionate shy fearful anxious mellow and friendly. When he is left alone in the house he can destroy furniture and household items. When Diablo is left in the yard he can destroy things and will dig up the yard. He is not nervous when he hears loud noises of any kind and he does not know any commands. Diablo is not bothered when anyone tries to take away his food toys or treats. He is also not bothered when his fur is being brushed but he will struggle if someone tries to give him a bath or trim his nails. He is not bothered when he is being held or restrained or when he is disturbed from his sleep and he is not allowed on the furniture. He becomes alert and curious when anyone approaches his home or any of his family members. He likes to go for fast paced walks and will use the bathroom on cement or grass when outside and on pee pads and newspaper inside the house. He is not allowed off of his leash and he has not been to any dog parks. He likes to play with balls and stuffed and squeaky toys. When he is in the house Diablo will occassionally stay in the same room as his owner or in his favorite spot the basement where he sleeps as well. He eats wet and dry food twice a day and also has Milk Bone dog bisuits for treats. During the Intake process he was shy and aloof at first staying to himself and not really socializing. As Diablo became more comfortable he would interact with people sniffing them and allowing them to pet and feed him. He allowed himself to be collared photographed and handled easily when he was comfortable in his new environment.

Diablo previously lived with 1 adult, he’s been socialized with other adults but hasn’t been around children, cats or other dogs and is reported that he is relaxed and tolerant of adults. The owner mentioned Diablo is house trained. The owner describes Diablo as playful, excitable, affectionate, shy, fearful, anxious, mellow and friendly. It was reported by the owner Diablo can be destructive with furniture when he is left home alone. The owner stated Diablo is house trained he uses the bathroom outside and indoors he goes to the bathroom on the wee-wee pads. At intake Diablo was shy and aloof, when he became more comfortable he sniffed the room and allowed to be pet by the counselors, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Diablo came into the assessment room calm and loose, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Diablo was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Diablo was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Diablo appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for a “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Diablo is tolerant of interaction and will greet the other dog briefly before moving off to explore his surroundings.
