My name is DELICIOUS. My Animal ID # is A1034710.
I am a male brown and white pit bull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 6 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 04/29/2015 from NY 11412, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY. I came in with Group/Litter #K15-011950.

05/07/2015 Exam Type CAGE EXAM – Medical Rating is 3 C – MAJOR CONDITIONS , Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 32.6 LBS.
S/O: Patient was observed to be have a soft cough as well as a moderate amount of serous nasal discharge. BAR otherwise. No reports of inapp./v/d. A: Kennel Cough Px: Good P: Start course of Doxycycline – 150 mg PO SID x 10 days Recheck on day 7 and 10 4/30- exam S/O: Vet check for areas of missing fur, slightly thin. Patient is BAR, very affectionate. Attention seeking. Offered wet food while out of cage and patient ate rapidly. No c/s/v/d reported. Easy to handle. Areas of hypotrichosis/alopecia present on dorsum of head, and at proximal aspect of ear pinnae, AU. Some scabbing at distal ear tips with alopecia, AU. Patchy alopecia areas on dorsum of tail. No erythema present, no scaling. BCS = 4/9 mm = pink/moist, CRT< 2sec. H/L = wnl EENT = clean AU, clear OU, nnd, mild tartar on teeth A: Alopecia – r/o infectious (parasites vs. inflammation vs. bacterial) vs. hypersensitivity vs. underlying disease vs. poor nutrition vs. other Dental tartar P: Wood’s lamp = negative Skin Scrape (x) -negative Activyl applied 4/29 – schedule bath for 5/1 or later Continue to monitor while at BACC

Delicious came in as a stray surrender so His past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake Delicious was reported to be, and laid on the floor sleeping. During SAFER Delicious was a bit shy, but he easily warmed up and was sociable towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items without issue, and was a bit fearful during the tag interaction, but approached the assessor at the end of the game with a loose body and low tail wag. During the resources portion of the assessment Delicious was easy to handle when engaged with the food and rawhide items, and only showed minimal interest in the toys. Delicious did not show any behavior concerns at the time of the assessment, so the department feels He can be suitable for a “Beginner” experienced adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog may smells and lick, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the rawhide. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs Delicious is still a bit hesitant when interacting with another dog but will approach the other dog in greeting and explores the yard with a wagging tail.
