06/04/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/04/15 16:53 Basic information Dash is an approximately 2 year old chihuahua mix. His last vet visit was when he was neutered. He is being surrendered because the owner says that he is too hard to handle and maintain. She said that Dash was abused as a puppy by a foster child her mother was fostering, which resulted in him being very aggressive with strangers or when he feels threatened. He has no known health issues. Socialization Around Strangers, Dash is aggressive and fearful. He does not play with adults or children. The owner said that they bought him a play pen where he is mostly isolated away from unfamiliar people. He plays rough with other dogs, sometimes his playing resulted in fight. He does not like cats. He snaps when his food bowl is touched. He jumps out the tub during bath time. He does not like his nails trimmed. Behavior The owners describe him as aggressive and fearful. She has tried to socialize him but it was not successful. He is very protective of the owner and her mother. He follows the owner around and only listens to her. She says that her favorite thing about him is that he protects her. He only cuddles with her and sleeps in her bed. She has bought him toys like balls and bones. He loves to play with socks. She says that he goes potty in the house, barks at strangers at the door, and destroys things in the house. He only sits or follow commands if you give him treats. He does not pull on the leash but when he gets scared outside, he hides behind the owners legs. He was being fed chicken nuggets. Behavior during intake During intake, Dash allowed no handling. He was very fearful and stayed close only to the owner. He allowed the other members she was with to pet him but vey little. The owner collared and put him into the kennel. He was scanned by a staff member and was negative.
