A Foster Writes: I fell in love with Daisy the second I met her. With her beautiful coat, zigzag design on her tail, floppy ears and wonderfully expressive face, Daisy is very inquisitive, calm, and loves nothing more than being close to you and having a cuddle. Tickle the top of her nose or gently scratch her face and she’ll fall asleep in seconds! Daisy had no problems being left alone whilst I was at work and waited for her evening walks to relieve herself, successful even after 10 hours on a day when I couldn’t get home any earlier. Daisy loves her walks and meeting new friends, people and dogs alike, and passers-by can’t seem to resist stopping to pet her and saying how beautiful she is. On her walks, Daisy is calm and very curious of new surroundings but can try to pull ahead and bark if she spots a new friend she wants to say hello to. Daisy is a smart little cookie who can sit on command and responds well to verbal correction. I’m confident Daisy would respond well to training with a bit of care and consistency.
A volunteer writes: Think about it….you’re in a public place….the person who first attracts your attention is the pretty (or handsome) face. But, the person who keeps your attention is the one who has depth and personality, the one whose intelligence shines through. That’s our Daisy. While yes a pretty face, her expressions are priceless, her eyes are intelligent and deep, her forehead has thought wrinkles, and she’s just a delight to watch. I want to squish her little jowls! She smiles, she’s serious, her tail wags and when her tail wags her entire butt wags! She’s a gorgeous redhead, slim in her lush coat. Gentle, easy, a great model for pictures, she sits with a bit of coaxing and takes treats gently. Social and tolerant in play group she does fine with other dogs, and greets all the kenneled dogs we pass with an easy tail wag and what seems like a promise to them that they will get out for a walk too. How sweet is she! She gives great cuddles, and is so easy and gentle to be with I could have hung out with her all day. While I can’t, you can, so hurry over to meet our Daisy today and make her part of your happily ever after.
Another volunteer writes: Things I love about Daisy: She’s gorgeous, loves to play fetch, is GREAT with other dogs, is a total wiggle butt, is smart and funny, lets me take the ball out of her mouth, is active, loves belly rubs, always wags her tail, loves to snuggle.
BEHAVIOR (9/12):
Daisy walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. Daisy was calm and relaxed during handling. She did a lot of jumping up, body checking and played tug-of-war with the leash while playing tag during tag interaction but was not difficult to manage. Daisy did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. She took the rawhide away with a soft body language.
Daisy show a bit of concern during the tag interaction she became a bit over arousal. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction.
