A volunteer writes: A gorgeous boy with a million dollar smile and a mischievous twinkle in his eyes, fun-loving Daddy is the life of any party! He’s extremely friendly with people (sometimes a little too friendly with the ladies!) and absolutely LOVES hanging out with other dogs, impressing volunteers and earning praise from staff for his happy, tolerant attitude in playgroup. Free in a backyard pen he’ll half-heartedly chase a ball but his main focus is always one-on-one interaction and it’s no surprise to hear from his former owner that he gets along well with children too – everyone is an instant BFF to Daddy! He knows how to wait politely for treats and take them nicely from my hand and he walks well on leash, keeps a spotless den and takes care of all his business outdoors. Daddy doesn’t have a mean bone in his big, beautiful body and he’ll absolutely thrive in an active family, especially one that includes a four-legged sibling (or three!) with whom he can play. A young hunk just chock full of potential, give him the structure and training any puppy needs to become a rock star adult and Daddy will return the favor with a lifetime of love, loyalty and laughter.
03/26/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Daddy pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. He was overexcited during handling, jumping up, and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. Daddy was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. Daddy took the toy and the rawhide with a soft body language. Daddy was surrender to us. According to the previous owner he get along with children and strangers. The owner described as a “very hyper and strong dog”. Daddy is an extremly high energy dog he needs a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experience home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body likely a bit stiff.
