05/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cups came into the care center as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He has been high-energy but easy to handle since intake. Cups is a very active young dog, and he was difficult to position for the SAFER items; however, on the occasions that he did settle he was calm and seemed to enjoy the human contact. Cups was active and would not settle for Look, but showed affiliative behavior toward the assessor, jumping up and licking at her face. He was mouthy and turned toward the Assessor’s hand each time she held the collar, but once the Sensitivity item began Cups leaned in, body still and soft. He jumped up toward the Assessor repeatedly during Tag, mouthing at her arms and legs, but calmed quickly once the play stopped. He nibbled at and then licked the Assessor’s hand during Paw Squeeze. Cups followed the food bowl with a tense body, lifting his head with pressure from the Assess-a-Hand. He played with and then relinquished the toy. When given a rawhide, Cups became tense and hunkered-down, though he did not turn his body away from the Assessor. During the second attempt to remove the rawhide, Cups muzzle punched the hand away and then air snapped. Cups is a young and high-energy dog who will need adopters willing to provide him with considerable mental and physical exercise daily, as well as guidance on appropriate human interaction. Due to the potential guarding behavior seen during SAFER, we recommend adopters familiar with guarding protocol and prepared to safely manage and positively modify the behavior should it appear in a home. Look: 1. Dog jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 2. Follows at end of leash, body soft; jumps on Assessor and mouths Assessor’s arms and legs but applies only minimal pressure. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed or back. Licks Assessor’s hand. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed or back. Licks Assessor’s hand. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body likely a bit stiff. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Rawhide: 4. Dog muzzle punches the hand away and then snaps at the air.

04/28/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs, Cups is initially apprehensive but clearly interested in engaging with the other dog. He actively approachs the helper dog but flattens his body to the ground while still loose and wiggly. He warms up and engages in some rough and rowdy play and can be mouthy. With another female, he offers play bows and solicits for play 4/30 Update Cups is getting better at soliciting for play and offers play bows. He enjoys rough and rowdy play 5/2 update: Cups continues to exhibit these same behaviors while socializing, he may need more time to get comfortable when interacting with a pushier female. 5/3,5/4 Update Cups is eager to play and engage in rough and rowdy play with a female playful female 5/5, 5/6 Update Cups continues to be eager and pushy when he is interested in play.
