A volunteer writes: The metal copper is sort of common and utilitarian. It coats pennies, is found in bronze medals, and corrodes to be green. It is considered a transition metal, along with 37 other elements in the periodic table. But if there were a periodic table of dogs, our Copper would belong to a group much more special. Its characteristics would include… Low reactivity: when we’ve encountered other dogs through a fence or on walksCopper seems interested and friendly, and when other people approach to admire him he greets them the same way – he is very puppy-like! Easy to handle: Copper seems to have housetraining, scavenges for treats, but isn’t grabby and is eager to “sit” for them. High resiliency: when it’s time to go inside from the yard, I raise my arms to remove the leash I’ve draped over my shoulders and he cowers and runs under the bench as if he’s expecting me to hurt him, but with just a little coaxing he comes wiggling right back out. Extreme malleability: Copper is incredibly cuddly and like putty in my hands – he props his paws on me (only briefly he doesn’t have the strength to maintain it), smooshes his face into my lap, rolls over for belly rubs, and wags his tail throughout all of his displays of affection! Magnetic: Copper has the sweetest face and always makes the softest eye contact with everyone he meets. Super duper precious: he is skin and bones, but even at a healthy weightCopper will be worth his weight exponentially in Californium! So really, I think Copper would be the only dog in his group – he is a rare find! Please come meet this sweet, sweet, SWEET boy at Brooklyn ACC!
