09/09/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Conduit came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake Conduit was polite with loose body posture. During SAFER Conduit came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Conduit follows the handler mouths rope, but quickly de-escalates during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Conduit was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Due to some concerns with Conduit mouthing the rope but able to quickly de-escalates showing no signs of aggression, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog follows at the end of leash, mouths rope but quickly de-escalates. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Conduit greets politely and shows interest when solicited but does not engage in play. He may become sexually motivated.
