08/20/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Pssst…wanna know a secret? Everyone around here says I’m a senior citizen but I’ve got them all fooled…I’m really a playful puppy! Would a senior do zoomies as soon as she hits the backyard? Do senior dogs leap up and down from the bench as easily as I can? When was the last time you met a senior citizen with as much get-up-and-go as me, the amazing Coco Mama?!! I loooove getting out and about with my friends of all sizes and species and in my last home I had two little human siblings to play with (a toddler and a ‘senior’ even older than me…10 years old!) with whom I was always relaxed and gentle. I never got to hang out with doggie friends before but I’m certainly making up for it now, meeting them with friendly tail wags in the street and happily messing about in playgroup, though sometimes I do find the pushy boys a bit overwhelming. I’m cool with people handling my toys and food, I like being pampered with a bath or having my fur brushed and boy, am I house trained! The minute I step outside it’s such a relief to ‘let go’ — being a good girl isn’t easy you know! As a non-senior my mind is still sharp as a tack and I understand and follow commands for ‘come’, ‘sit’ and ‘lie down’ and while I must admit do pull a bit on leash (because exploring is so darn exciting!) I promise to always listen when you speak to me and try my best to slow down. Did I also mention I’m a great kisser? Well, I am! I’ve aced all my behavior tests and I’m already spayed and ready to walk out the front door with you today. Get in on all the Coco Mama action for yourself when you come visit me at the Manhattan Care Center…just look for the puppy with a beautiful silver face!
