05/09/15 12:00 Basic Info: Coco is an 8yr old female Yorkshire Terrier Mix who was given to the owner as a gift from a friend. Coco has no known health problems/injuries but hasn’t been to a vet recently. The owner is surrendering due to personal problems. Socialization: Coco is friendly/outgoing to all. She’s exuberant and has lived with children ages 3, 4 &10yrs old. Coco plays relaxed, exuberant but gentle with them. Coco has spent time with “all kinds of Dogs” and is relaxed/playful, gentle with them. Coco has not been around Cats. Coco has never bitten or scratched any person or animal. Behavior: During storms/fireworks Coco is afraid/nervous and will hide. Coco is friendly/not bothered by the following: having her food/food bowl touched/moved, her toys/treats, being removed from furniture, giving her a bath, brushing her coat/trimming her nails, being held/restrained, someone unfamiliar approaching her family/home or being disturbed while sleeping/resting. For a New Family to Know: Coco is described as friendly, affectionate, playful & excitable. Her activity level is low-medium. Coco’s favorite thing is playing. When the owner is home Coco will be in the same room. She likes squeaky & tug toys. Coco is an indoor dog who sleeps in bed with the owner but also has her own bed. Coco is fed wet food twice a day (unknown brand), her favorite treats are “cookie bones”. Coco is housetrained she uses wee wee pads with no accidents and is walked twice a day where she pulls on the leash lightly and “goes” on grass. When left alone Coco is well behaved. Coco has used/been in a crate before. Intake Behavior: Coco was sitting near her owner and was jumping up on them for attention. Coco allowed handling, she was slightly tense at first but warmed up and allowed the counselor to scan (neg.), collar and take her picture.

Coco walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, wagging tail. Coco was calm and relaxed during handling. She had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. Coco was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. She does not approach other dog, turns body to side. Coco was surrender to us. According to her previous owner Coco is friendly with strangers. She’s exuberant and has lived with children ages 3, 4 &10yrs old. Coco plays relaxed, exuberant but gentle with them. Coco has spent time with different size dogs and she is relaxed, playful and gentle with them. Coco did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 1. No interest. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. Dog – dog 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog.
