04/08/15 19:04 Dog Name: Coco Reason for surrender: Owner moving to a new place that doesn’t except pets. Relationship: Owner had Coco for a year and 4 months. People: Coco lived with adults and children around all ages owner stated. She is every playful towards children and can be exuberant at times. Coco is loose body and calm and everyone she meets owner stated. Other Animals: Owner stated when other dogs bark at Coco she tends to whine because all she wants to do is play but when she realize they don’t want to play with her she will bark back but never aggressive towards them. Coco is very tolerant towards cats and doesn’t pay them any mind owner stated. Personality/Habits: Owner stated Coco is smart and likes to cuddle. Her activity level is very high, she likes to play with balls, sticks, and socks. She isn’t bothered when someone touches her food bowl, toys, or treats. She enjoys taking baths and being brushed. She isn’t bothered when unfamiliar people approach the house or family member. Coco tends to follow owner around the house she believes Coco doesn’t like to be let alone. When Coco is home alone she destroys household items that she can reach. Owner stated Coco is excitable and affectionate. Training: Coco is house trained and house broken owner stated. She goes for walks twice a day but if it’s snowing or rain outside she will use the bathroom indoors on piddle pads. If Coco is not taken outside in a certain amount of time she uses the bathroom indoors as well. She goes for walks on a leash and never off on outside. She knows commands such as sit, lay down, come here, go eat and drink water. She has be crate trained but doesn’t do well in it. She will bark and whine until someone let her out. Feeding: Coco eats dry food called Beneful. Coco will have diarrhea if she eats wet food owner stated. Behavior upon intake: Coco was barking, whining and jumping on admission counselor. She scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.

Coco previously lived with adults and children around all ages. According to the owner Coco was reported to be very playful towards children and can be exuberant at times. Coco was also reported to be very tolerant towards cats and generally ignores them. Her activity level was said to be very high, and the owner mentioned that when Coco is home alone she destroys household items that she can reach. It was also mentioned that Coco is house broken and if it’s snowing or rain outside she will use the bathroom indoors on piddle pads. At intake it was noted that Coco was barking, whining and jumping on the Admission Counselor, but did allow all handling and was easily collard. During SAFER Coco was very sociable towards the assessor, and allowed all handling without issue. She did become a bit over aroused and mouthed the leash playfully during the tag interaction, but she was easily calmed down. She was also easy to handle when engaged with the food and toys items, and was not interested in the rawhides. The Behavior Department feels Coco shows behaviors suitable for an “Average” experienced adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. A bit over aroused and mouth the leash playfully. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Coco is anxious when approaching the yard and excited so a gentle leader is used. She is calm in the yard and the gentle leader is removed and is social, calm and will wander the yard. She is a bit assertive during interaction and responds well to correction
