10/27/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Clifford came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Clifford was scared and timid, he allowed no handling. During SAFER Clifford came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly, social and very playful towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Clifford was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Clifford was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Clifford can be somewhat rough during play and consistently jumps on the assessor strongly throughout the entire assessment and was difficult to position. Clifford appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no young children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog licks, then turns away.
